ASTOC Architects and Planners, HPP Architects and LAND Srl have been announced as winners of an international two-stage competition to masterplan the IFC in Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye. The first stage was a preliminary qualification with 83 applications from 22 countries. 8 teams have participated in the second stage, followed by negotiations with 3 finalists.
The phased, 460 hectare mixed-use development will capitalize on the Moscow River’s greenbelt by extending the river landscape throughout the IFC to achieve a balance between nature and city.
Our design for the IFC is based on the important and also the seemingly insignificant framework conditions on site: the eye-catching loops of the river and its floodplain meadows, the natural features of the river and the water as well as the characteristic dimensions found in each of the neighboring quarters provide a solid foundation for an unmistakable urban design. Developing the IFC Moscow will be a task for many years and for many generations. What is important in this context is that any major decisions are taken based on a robust and transparent urban design plan. Against this background, our concept will first set out the buildable and non buildable areas, the required dimensions as well as the important and outstanding locations within the project area.
According to the competition rules ASTOC Architects and Planners, HPP Architects and LAND Srl will be engaged in support of implementation of the masterplan with respect to preparation of the urban planning documentation and development of the design code.
